Cody Pallo

Cody Pallo differs from other members of the So Sue Me Already roster in that we’ve never really played music together. However, I feel his name is important if only because of his interest and involvement in the scene.

Cody is an amazing artist, and a super-perfectionist too. He designed a DWAB logo for me, just for the hell of it. Then he offered to put out a Jeberrekenelle cassette single and did an amazing drawing of the band. He released the tape on his label, Loquacity.

Unfortunately for Cody, his extremely perfectionist nature led to a bastardization of his label name by some (Low-quality, I once heard…) but it was actually quite the opposite. It’s just that he was so obsessed with making everything just right that it would take him forever to finish projects.

I may be wrong, but I believe that Loquacity only had two more releases, Incurable Complaint’s first 7” and a compilation tape, TOCMOS (named after one of my poems!). The compilation tape featured a strange selection of (mostly informal) Santa Barbara bands featuring a handful of Cody’s friends. It wasn’t a particularly great compilation, but I’m thankful that Cody took the initiative to produce it. Now, all these years later, it’s a great reminder of what was going on in my life at the time. It’s a great reminder of the bands that were around that would be essentially forgotten now.
